If you are holding on to insecurities it could be potentially harming your business. I will be the first person here to raise my hand and say yes! I am so completely guilty of this but I have recently seen first hand how my insecurities were hurting my business. Lack of confidence is something I have struggled with immensely, especially since I decided to leave the secure bubble of my full time job and venture down the road of being a business owner. I had to let go of the assumption that everyone was waiting for me to fail or that people were judging my every move.

Being insecure is something that everyone experiences and it is hard to avoid. It is so easy to look around see all of these successful people and feel inadequate. The comparisons are hard to overcome and eventually you start to feel extremely uncomfortable in your own skin. This lack of confidence kills your passion and creates an extremely negative self perception. Letting go of all these insecurities will show through in your business. You will be confident when you talk and people will be drawn to your bold and brave persona.

This lack of confidence will also be reflected in your social media feeds. This was a connection that took me a while to realize. I would post about things that didn't really matter to me. I talked in broad terms and wouldn't make any personal connections. I was basically creating feeds that I thought people wanted to see. Not what I wanted. I was too insecure with the size of my business to really put myself out there. Once I connected the dots here and stopped caring, things started to change. I focused on things that I felt passionate about and stopped caring about what people might be thinking.

It is a growing and learning process that only you can evolve into. However, there are things that will help. The best advice I can give anyone who is feeling insecure is to stop looking at the numbers. Never compare your numbers to someone else. Organic growth is more important that a number. Don't get discouraged and give up who you are. Don't give in to the temptation to post things that are not really you or your business. Stay strong and the business will grow and people will notice you for being who you really are.

There are so many statistics and facts that people use to "calculate" instant social media success. It might have worked for them, but it might not work for you. Yes, there absolutely are things you can do to improve your social media success, but just showing up is this best place to start. Let the process evolve and don't try to implement a million different strategies that worked for someone else.

Ultimately, just do what works for you. Don't let your mind be clouded by the insecurities that you have about your business. Not everyone is going to like it and that is so effing okay. If every person in the world wanted the same thing, the world would seriously suck from a lack of creativity. If someone doesn't absolutely love what you are throwing down, then they are obviously not going to be your customer. Move on and move up. Don't ever let someone make you feel uncomfortable or try and talk down what you do. My favorite saying is "fake it til you make it". Even if you are not feeling completely confident, just fake it!

Let your confidence be an integrated part of your social media. Share what makes you amazing. Share your passion and remember that your insecurities are just something your mind has created. Your business is a part of you and you are a pretty powerful individual just for having that!
